Winemaking
Lamont’s co-founder, Corin Lamont, was Lamont’s first winemaker under the tutorage of her father, Jack Mann from 1978 until his death in 1989.
There has been significant capital investment since the mid nineties resulting in improvements in the technology and upgrade of winemaking equipment. This new focus which includes importing premium new oak barrels and significant attention to vineyard practises has resulted in Lamont’s being judged Western Australias best small producer six times in nine years across the show circuit in Western Australia.

Winemaker
Digby Leddin joined Lamont’s in 1996 as a vineyard hand while studying an associate degree in viticulture, part-time at Curtin University. Digby worked vintage as cellar-hand under winemaker Mark Warren, and the balance of the year as viticulturalist alongside Vineyard Manager, Ross Barton, retrellising Lamont’s Vineyard and establishing new plantings.
Digby assumed full winemaking responsibility at the end of 2002, on his return from Northern hemisprere vintage in Marsala, Sicily, where he worked for the Trentino based company Concilio.
From vintage 2003, Digby was joined by Roseworthy graduate, Rachael Robinson. Lamont’s dynamic and successful winemaking team, working under the supportive gaze of consultant, Moss Wood winemaker Keith Mugford for vintages 2003 - 2005, has won the Most Successful Producer in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and in total collected 9 trophies, 71 medals , (including fourteen gold) in the 2003, 2004 and 2005 Perth, Mount Barker and Swan Valley Wineshows. Vintage 2007 marked Lamont’s 30th vintage since their first commercial release in 1978.
Curtin University Bachelor of science- viticulture & oenology graduate Alexis Michelides joined Lamont's for the 2007 vintage as cellar- hand on return from a world trip and has stayed on as viticulturalist under Vineyard Manager, Ross Barton and assistant winemaker under senior winemaker Digby Leddin. Alexis has previously worked with Mitchelton, Moss Wood and Forest Hill.
