"Sitting on the deck, the sun gently warming the back of your neck, it's hard to imagine a place that better captures the feel of Margaret River than here, overlooking the water in the Gunyulgup Valley. The Lamont imprimatur ensures that the dishes will be simple, focused and full of flavour...A small, well-chosen wine list features drops from around the world, with the excellent Lamont wines available by the glass."

Gourmet Traveller 2007"As one of three casual but utterly accomplished dining rooms overseen by therenowned Lamont family, the Margaret River contingent certainly holds its own. Jim Mailes is a terrific cook, turning out fresh, interesting fare based around seasonal produce. Pemberton marron is something of a feature - try it with the chilled rice-noodle salad and paw paw pickle, if it's on. Venison osso buco with colcannon and Guinness jus is a lovely, robust dish and we've never tasted a better espresso panna cotta than the one served here, with caramelised orange syrup and house-made biscotti. Those who like a bit of a show with dessert should order the individual pavlova; festooned with cream andpoached berries, it can comfortably serve two. The Gunyulgup Gallery next door to the restaurant is well worth a visit.

"A dreamy location and great modern food makes this a Margaret River favourite. Share dishes of chilli-salt squid or grilled marron, but leave space for the magnificent pavlova. Lamont's also does breakfasts of fruit, yoghurt and cinnamon filo or, at the other end of the virtuous scale, eye fillet with eggs and bacon.
