"Lamont's, overlooking the calm waters of Claisebrook Inlet, is part of the East Perth redevelopment. The stylish yet simple dishes here focus on outstanding produce: a rustic soup of cauliflower and chive with oxtail and hazelnut ravioli is thick and satisfying; a wild mushroom crepe, savoury and earthy; the beef fillet, perfectly rare, is served with cassoulet and braised lettuce which provides a counterpoint. A special of wagyu on polenta with tempura asparagus is similarly well executed, although the freshly house-made icecream could have been churned for a bit longer. With the exception of sparkling wines, wines by the glass are from the family winery, Lamont's (the 2006 Verdelho and 2003 Shiraz are exceptional).
